The challenge of practicing EarthPainting in an urban context

What I understood is the importance of beginning this practice from where we are now, where we live and where we walk everyday. Earth isn’t just in the lands, in the mythical forests and in the sacred mountains, but Gaia’s energy is everywhere. As a living creature, She supports us even where we are on the sidewalk.

It can be a real challenge to reconnect to Her immense power in places like our cities in which there is no more tracks of sacred and nature. Gaia’s body and energies live under the skin of our cities, hidden under the asphalt. We are invited to create a state of mind that can help us to go deeper in the contact and to feel Her energies despite all the buildings.

We are called to awaken this contact with Mother Earth through Feeling and to develop this Seventh Sense if we want to continue our journey with Her. 

Hyperconnection / Interconnection

I am living in the city of Rome since 2003 and when I began to open the eyes of my heart and to look deeply around me, I realized how it is easy and automatic for us to disconnect from the local reality where we are in to move into our mental loops and our  virtual “hyperconnection” mania.

We are technologically connected in every moment, but at the end we are totally disconnected from the landsape, from the nature within and around us, from our own bodies, from the Body of the Earth. If we could look at our contemporaries cities from an external prospective, we would certainly see zombies and robots walking fast to earn and spend money.

My inspiration was clear.

We urge to connect to the soul of our places, to the sacred energies of the Earth that lie under the smooth surface of our modern worlds. It is why EarthPainting became for me a practice of constant awakening, an exercise of awareness to a sense of deep interconnection to nature, a training of pure presence that keeps me rooted, revitalized and anchored in the Here and Now, grounded in my body, connected to the Body of Gaia.

EarthPainting è esercizio di pure presenza, un “accorgersi” di ciò che ci circonda.

La sfida di praticare EarthPainting in un contesto urbano

Ciò che ho capito è l’importanza di iniziare questa pratica, partendo da dove siamo adesso, da dove viviamo, da dove camminiamo tutti giorni, dalla nostra realtà ordinaria. La Terra non esiste solo nei campi, nelle mitiche foreste e nelle sacre montagne, poiché l’energia di Gaia è ovunque. E’ un organismo vivente che ci sostiene energeticamente anche sui marciapiedi.

Può sembrare una vera sfida riconnettersi con il Suo immenso potere in luoghi come le nostre città in cui non c’è più traccia della natura. Il corpo di Gaia e le sue energie vivono sotto la pelle delle nostra città, nascoste sotto l’asfalto nelle profondità. Come contattarle? Serve creare uno stato di coscienza che ci aiuti ad approfondire il contatto e a sentire le Sue energia, malgrado /attraverso tutto ciò che abbiamo costruito.

Siamo chiamati a risvegliare questo contatto con Madre Terra, attraverso la sensazione e a sviluppare questo Settimo Senso, se vogliamo continuare il nostro cammino con Lei. 

Hyperconnessione / Interconnessione

Vivo a Roma in un contesto urbano ma ciò non impedisce di aprire gli occhi del cuore e di iniziare a vedere ciò che ci circonda. Ho preso coscienza di quanto è veloce e automatico per noi disconnettersi con la realtà locale ( dove siamo), a causa dei nostri meccanismi di pensieri e della nostra mania per la tecnologia virtuale che ci porta ad essere iperconnessi, ma profondamente disconnessi.

Siamo tecnologicamente connessi ma alla fine siamo totalmente disconnessi dal paesaggio, dalla natura che è dentro e fuori di noi, dai nostri corpi che teleguidiamo con il pilota automatico. Se ci potessimo vedere da una prospettiva esterna, forse avremmo la sensazione di vedere zombies e robots camminare veloci per guardagnare denaro e spendere denaro.

E’ urgente connettersi con l’anima dei luoghi dove viviamo, con le profonde energie della Terra che vivono sotto la superficie liscia dei nostri mondi moderni. E’ per questo che EarthPainting è diventato per me una pratica di risveglio costante, un esercizio di attenzione e di consapevolezza dell’esistenza di un senso di interconnessione con la natura, un allenamento alla pura presenza che mi tiene aperta, vitale ed ancorata nel Qui ed Ora, radicata nel mio corpo, connessa con il corpo pulsante di Gaia.
